What to do when Animal Hoarding leaves its mark...

1/4/2021 (Permalink)

Biohazard We clean it properly.....the first time.

Let’s say you have a neighbor, friend or family member that is a person living with several animals.  Although their heart is in the right place with these animals and they picture themselves as a savior to the homeless cats, dogs or whatever- in the community, they can’t quite keep up with all of the needs of the animals.

Over time, the pet food containers, fecal matter, and urine accumulate into a truly hazardous living condition.  The condition of the animals begins to deteriorate as vaccinations are not administered and disease among the animals begins to transmit.  A neighbor notes the issue and contacts animal control in concern for the animals and their neighborhood. The animals are subsequently removed and the neighbor is now left with an overwhelming home environment that is unhealthy to live in.

Scenes like this are much more common in our communities than many really know-especially now.  Animal hoarding is defined as: excessive acquisition of more animals than could reasonably be adequately cared for by a person on a particular property-and happens frequently.  The National Humane Society estimates that over 250,000 animals suffer and die due to animal hoarding on an annual basis.  Much too many. It doesn’t make sense to most people, that a person would voluntarily take on the volume of animals found in animal hoarding situations.  However, similar to standard hoarding disorders, animal hoarding is typically a manifestation some sort of underlying mental illness. Furthermore-it’s not just animals that can get ill - those individuals also can become ill or worse. The urine and feces left behind in an animal hoard environment can result in a toxic environment for the person left behind.

Trauma Let us take care of you

Trauma Scene Remediation

Trauma clean up isn’t an easy task to handle. If it’s done too quickly, without personal protection equipment, someone’s health could be at severe risk. But if the remnants of the crime are left in place for too long, there’s a greater risk of spreading the contamination or causing even more damage to the property and/or health.

Professional crime scene cleaning companies are the best source for reliable and safe biohazard cleanup.

When a home or office building has become a crime site, it can be difficult to know what one should and shouldn’t be doing.

Should you immediately start scrubbing everything?

Should you take personal possessions out of the area?

Professional trauma cleaners have answers to many of these important questions. They’ll coordinate with the law enforcement investigators and won’t get to work until the scene has been released. When you hire professionals, you won’t have to worry about inadvertently committing the crime of obstructing any investigation.

Cleanup is inherently dangerous work. Professional cleaners must undergo rigorous training. They learn how to use personal protection equipment properly and they must follow strict protocols during each job.

These precautions are necessary to protect themselves and the people who will be in the area afterward.

Proper trauma scene cleanup takes place as soon as possible after the police or medical professionals finish their investigation of the scene. If residue and fluids are neglected, the building itself can sustain further damage. With professional cleaning, these hazards can easily be avoided. If they are not done properly, more of the structure would have to be mitigated and rebuilt-causing further delay in time and money.

Work with professionals and get it done right the first time-It will make the process much easier for all whom are involved.
